Nervously Avoiding TDKR Spoilers...

I seem to be the only person in the world who hasn't seen Batman's latest adventure. I feel bad about it, but I haven't had the time to get to it. I normally love to read reviews of these movies, but they all contain spoilers. I'm really sweating it. Every website is talking about this! This is why the Internet is horrible.

The Amazing Spider-Man Movie Review *SPOILERS*

I saw the Amazing Spider-Man at midnight, having high expectations. Very high, really. I grew up with the Raimi trilogy, followed every update involving Spider-Man 4, and was heartbroken when the reboot was announced. Although when then trailers were released, my anticipation grew. I got to the theater, saw some people cosplaying as Spidey, Kingpin, the Lizard, Doc Ock, the Rhino and Sandman and waited in the theater for almost an hour. Then the movie began.
The first scene with Peter Parker's father was very interesting to watch. I very much look forward to the rest of that semi-Ultimate plot. From Andrew Garfield's first lines, I was like, "Holy crud, this is Peter Parker!" Andrew's sincerity and introverted nature were perfect.
He is an excellent actor, and the casting was great.
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy was also very good. It was a merging of several incarnations of the character. Due to retcons and retellings, people believe she was a shy dork, but really, that's not true. She was smart, yes, but men certainly liked her. The Gwen of this film was a marriage of both, while still being perfect for Peter.
Rhys Ifans as Curt Connors/The Lizard was... great for what he was given. The Lizard really only has one repeated story in the comics, but for a film, you really only need one story, so it's fine. Curt was excellent, and the CGI of the Lizard was very good. I have just never liked the Lizard very much. But, in this movie, he is used to his fullest potential.
Martin Sheen and Sally Field were excellent. It was interesting to see a younger Aunt May. Denis Leary was...  Denis Leary. Just kidding, he was good. The story was nicely adapted, and you can feel you are really inside Peter's mind.
The only cons I have is some things were repeated from the first movie, but that's unavoidable. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 can't come fast enough. (I hope it's called the Spectacular Spider-Man.)

4.5/5 Stars
